Well Done

As I picked an apple off of my tree this week I realized that it gave me a great sense of achievement. I grew this tree, pruned it, fertilized it and now I get to eat the fruit of my labor. Whether it's an apple off of the tree, a tomato off of the vine or flowers picked for a bouquet, I feel good when I get to enjoy it; I have a sense of fulfillment, a sense of "This is good". For me, being a gardener is all about nurturing plants and bringing them to their best whether it's a flower or a vegetable.

This sense of "I did good" guides me through all areas of my life. I have learned to pat myself on the back when I get a project finished even if it's only getting all of the laundry done or the bathrooms cleaned (one of my least favorites!).

I am a notorious 'to-do list' maker, not just so I know what needs to be done but because I get great satisfaction in being able to check things off as I get them completed. I like things done, finished, completed and it's one of the reasons I love what I do as a career. When I take on a project for a client, whether it's a garden refresh or a complete new landscape, my goal is to make it beautiful, bring a sense of 'this is good'. One of the taglines for my business is 'cultivate beauty' (#cultivatebeauty) because I think that we need more beauty in our lives.

Do I make mistakes? Absolutely. Do I think of what I could have done better, changed? You bet. Beat myself up when I blow it? Uh huh. But, I have learned to concentrate on the good, on what worked and most days I can do that. Small victories or big.

I want to encourage to start looking at your small victories, tell yourself "way to go" and keep moving forward in whatever it is you are working on right now. September is a great time to take stock, re-think, change up our routines.

This is why I started my facebook group called 'Getting the Garden of your Dreams' - to help you get your landscape the way you want it, with me there to help you every step of the way helping and encouraging you so you can tell yourself "I did good!"

If you are interested in joining my group, message me here on my website and I'll get back to you with all the info.
